VISIT TO A VEGETABLE MARKET
On Wednesday, December 28th, students of our School visited the Vijyanagar Vegetable Market to learn about where their food comes from and the importance of supporting local agriculture. The students were accompanied by their teachers. The students then had the opportunity to try some of the fruit and vegetables that were on display. They sampled a variety of items, including juicy apples, crisp carrots, sweet strawberries, and refreshing cucumbers. The students were surprised to learn about the different flavours and textures of the produce and many of them discovered new favourites. After trying the samples, the students were given a tour of the market by one of the vendors who was a local farmer. The farmer showed the students how he grows his crops and explained the importance of supporting local agriculture. He talked about the benefits of buying fresh, locally grown produce and how it helps to support the local economy.
The students were very interested in learning about where their food comes from and asked many thoughtful questions. They were also impressed by the hard work and dedication of the farmers and were grateful for the opportunity to learn more about agriculture.
Overall, the visit to the farmers market was a valuable learning experience for the students. They not only learned about the importance of supporting local agriculture, but they also had the opportunity to try new fruits and vegetables and experience the joy of supporting their local community.
